After earlier careers as a nurse and then a software engineer, Marguerite Bride finally found her true calling. After moving to the Berkshires in 1995 she took every art course around then set to practicing for a couple of years before going “public”. Something clicked; she has not stopped painting since. Bride’s first love is watercolors and has made it her mission to paint the Berkshires…but in particular, the structures we see around us. Her love of painting buildings lead to some fun side projects…painting house portraits…and over the past 15 years or so she has been commissioned to paint over 150 homes. Her style is “painterly” realistic but not overly so, and while there is plenty of detail in her paintings, they would never be mistaken for a photograph. She exhibits regularly in local art shows and galleries, and gives a yearly demo at the Frelinghuysen Museum.
